Lawless(ons): NewIndia Needs MindQuakes, 2
Here's a recent example of another attitude hindering India. 'Watch
the action,' said my friend at the wheel. We were waiting at red
lights. A traffic cop was arguing with two motorcyclists he had stopped
for some infringement. The cop took out his ticket book. A biker handed
him two hundred rupee notes. The other followed suit. The cop's ticket
book went back into his pocket. He patted the lawbreakers' shoulders and
sent them off with a smile.
India
has more laws than most countries, but not many upholders of law. Every
law is an opportunity for gain for those with authority - the greater
the authority, the greater the opportunity for gain.
Where is India headed? Can a country with little respect for laws become one of the world's truly modern developed nations? India needs MindQuakes.
Or...do we prefer a world leader achievement in bribe collecting?
